S.S. Eastland is a passenger ship from Chicago wrote used for tourist tours. On July 24, 1915 this ship along with two other steamers "The Theodore Roosevelt" and "The Petoskey", hired to transport the employees of Chicago's Western Electric Company on vacation to Michigan City - Indiana. For employees this is the moment they were waiting in great because most of these workers will not be able to vacation at their own expense (pd time America was hit by the economic recession). S.S. Eastland rupaya carry too much on the lifeboats on board enacting this ship became unstable.At 6:30 that morning the passengers began to climb the ship and at 7:10 o'clock the ship was filled with 2752 passengers (maximum capacity).
